The Michigan Infrastructure Office Technical Assistance Center (MIO TAC) announces an extended opportunity for complimentary technical assistance (TA) to support communities who are applying for the USDOT “Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD)” program. The NOFO from the federal government was just released, and applications are due by February 24, so there is still time to apply. TAC will accept applications for grant writing assistance and match reservations for the USDOT BUILD program until January 8, 2026, 11:59pm. If you missed applying for BUILD in Window 5 2025 which closed last month, this special extension (only for BUILD applicants) is your opportunity to apply for grant writing and match funding assistance. The BUILD Grant Program will issue $1.5 billion in grants for repairing or enhancing roads, bridges, rail, ports, transit and other projects designed to improve safety; quality of life; mobility; economic competitiveness and opportunity including tourism; and environmental sustainability. Innovative projects that incorporate partnership and collaboration are welcomed. Please click BUILD FACT SHEET which provides more information about this grant opportunity. In this special extended BUILD application window, MIO TAC will provide grant writing assistance and technical responses such as benefit-cost analysis, and project match funding assistance reservations. Technical Assistance services will be available through a MIO TAC online application. Please click HERE to apply online. The TAC has supported more than 100 communities in accessing federal funding opportunities by offering technical assistance and match reservations to local governments, tribal entities, and other eligible organizations and we hope to assist your community.
